Discover Zebra Facts for Kids |
There's no
mistaking what you are seeing when you spot a horse-like animal with
black and white stripes: it's nothing else but a zebra! Read on and
have your children enjoy these zebra facts for kids.
Zebras have their
own unique pattern of distinctive stripes, just as humans have their
own unique pattern of fingerprints. However, scientists are not sure
as to why zebras have stripes, they just believe the stripes are a
way for zebras to protect themselves from predators. Camouflage leads
the list. Stripes make a herd of zebras look confusing to their
predators especially when they're moving. Whatever lies behind those
stripes, one thing is for sure – no two set of stripes are exactly
the same.
Sadly, zebras are
becoming endangered. Finding food and water gives them a difficult
time. Worse, humans are hunting them down for their skins and meat.
